Nvidia Raises $1B in Poolside AI as part of an ongoing $2 billion funding round

Nvidia is reportedly planning to invest between $500 million and $1 billion in Poolside AI, the Paris-based AI coding startup, as part of an ongoing $2 billion funding round that would value the company at $12 billion.

The deal remains under negotiation and has not been officially confirmed by either party.

The Company Behind the Code

Poolside builds AI models that automate software development. Founded in July 2023 by Jason Warner—former GitHub CTO—and Eiso Kant, the startup relocated from the United States to Paris in August 2024.

The company offers two proprietary large language models: Point for code completion and Malibu for complex software engineering tasks. Poolside uses Reinforcement Learning from Code Execution Feedback to enhance coding capabilities beyond standard models.

The Investment Breakdown

According to Bloomberg sources, Poolside is in discussions to raise $2 billion at a $12 billion pre-money valuation—a stunning four-fold jump from its $3 billion valuation just one year ago.

The startup has already secured over $1 billion in commitments, with approximately $700 million coming from existing backers.

Nvidia's participation would start at $500 million and could climb to $1 billion if Poolside hits its fundraising targets. Money manager Magnetar is also reportedly in talks to participate.

This marks Nvidia's second bet on Poolside after participating in the $500 million Series B round in October 2024.

The capital will support Poolside's infrastructure ambitions. In October 2025, the company announced Project Horizon—a partnership with CoreWeave to build one of America's largest data centers in West Texas with 2 gigawatts of capacity.

CoreWeave will supply over 40,000 cutting-edge Nvidia GB300 GPUs starting December 2025, with the facility operational by Q1 2027.

What's Next for Poolside?

Poolside targets government, defense, and financial services sectors with pilot programs at Global 2000 enterprises.

With immediate access to next-generation silicon and the upcoming Texas facility, Poolside can train multi-trillion parameter models at scale.

The main challenge is competing against GitHub Copilot, Microsoft, and OpenAI in the crowded AI coding market. If Poolside closes this mega-round and delivers on its AGI ambitions, it could redefine software development automation.
